- QUICK TIPS!
- THERE MUST BE A SOUND BASIS FOR THE APPEAL. An appeal based on emotion, rather than facts, is not likely to produce desired results.
- TAX VALUES CAN GO DOWN, BUT MIGHT ALSO GO UP, AS THE RESULT OF AN APPEAL. Before prusing a property tax appeal, be sure that it is actually warranted.
- NO ONE SHOULD PAY MORE THAN - OR LESS THAN - THEIR FAIR SHARE IN PROPERTY TAX. The tax values for all locally assessed real property in Wake County, NC are supposed to be 100% of True Value (Market Value) as of January 1, 2008. But, if your tax value is at 100% of True Value, while that of other locally assssed properties is less than 100%, you might pay more than your fair share in property tax.
